DR. JORIS DEREANT
General Medicine & General Ultrasound
Dr Joris Dereant began his medical studies at the Faculty of Medicine in Nancy before pursuing specialty training in general practice at the Université Henri Poincaré. He also completed two years of training in ultrasound and obtained an inter-university diploma (DIU) in general ultrasound at Université Paris V.
His thesis, focusing on targeted ultrasound, led to the development of a research protocol called ECHOSTÉOM. Its innovative objective is to provide patients with a faster and more accurate diagnosis by performing this ultrasound examination directly in the general practitioner’s office.
The ECHOSTÉOM project, developed in collaboration with Prof. Paolo Di Patrizio, Prof. Éliane Albuisson, Dr Boris Gass, Dr Sébastien Tritz and the DRCI (Research and Innovation Department) in Nancy, was a winner of the ReSP-Ir 2022 call for projects and received funding of €114,985. The study is currently ongoing; the first results will be published in due course.
In 2025, Dr Joris Dereant and his wife, Dr Mathilde Dereant, founded the Primera Medical Centre in Niederkorn (Differdange).
